Wykamol Enviroseal Masonry Water Repellent

Wykamol Enviroseal stands as a proven masonry water repellent solution, meticulously crafted as a ready-to-use liquid with a foundation based on a solvent-free silicone/siloxane emulsion. This innovative formulation is specifically engineered to ensure the robust protection of porous brickwork, cement renderings, asbestos, cement/mineral boards, unglazed tiles, cast concrete, roughcast, stonework (including calcareous materials), and canvas. It is essential to note that Enviroseal is not a dust-proofing sealer or a damp-proofing membrane.

Enviroseal's exceptional design allows treated surfaces to remain permeable to vapour, meticulously preventing the entrapment of moisture within the structure. This unique feature effectively safeguards against potential structural damage caused by trapped moisture and condensation. Notably, the application of Enviroseal ensures surfaces are thoroughly protected while remaining breathable, preserving the integrity of the underlying structures. The product is formulated to dry clear and colourless, maintaining the original appearance of treated surfaces. In certain circumstances, a very minimal darkening may occur, though this is an exception rather than the norm.

The application of Enviroseal provides an array of benefits, including its highly penetrating nature and low odour, ensuring a smooth and convenient application process. The water-repellent properties of this product facilitate the shedding of waterborne dirt and reduction of surface contamination, thereby contributing to enhanced insulation and surface dryness. It is noteworthy that Enviroseal becomes immediately effective after drying, typically within approximately 3 hours. Additionally, it allows for over-coating with decorative paints at a later date, offering flexibility in maintaining or altering the surface appearance.

Furthermore, Enviroseal conforms to the performance requirements of BS 6477:1992 for substrate groups I and II, exemplifying its compliance with stringent industry standards and its status as a quality, high-performance product.

Product Benefits:

  • Highly Penetrating: Enviroseal's deeply penetrating nature ensures thorough protection of porous brickwork, cement renderings, asbestos, and various other surfaces, effectively fortifying them against water infiltration and damage.

  • Low Odour: The product's low odour formulation ensures a pleasant application experience, making it suitable for diverse environments and applications.

  • Water Repellent Properties: By effectively warding off water intrusion, Enviroseal shields surfaces from potential contamination, thereby improving the overall cleanliness and longevity of the treated areas.

  • Enhanced Insulation: Enviroseal's water-repellent properties contribute to keeping treated surfaces dry, hence supporting improved insulation and potential energy savings.

  • Colourless When Dry: The product dries clear and colourless, maintaining the original appearance of the treated surfaces, ensuring minimal aesthetic alteration.

  • Vapour Permeable: Enviroseal's ability to allow the surface to "breathe" ensures the effective management of moisture, preventing the entrapment of moisture within structures.

  • Immediate Effectiveness: After drying, typically within 3 hours, Enviroseal becomes immediately effective, swiftly providing robust protection against water infiltration and related damage.

  • Over-coating Capability: The product allows for over-coating with decorative paints at a later date, offering flexibility in maintaining or altering the appearance of treated surfaces.

Typical Applications:

  • Brickwork and Cement Renderings: Enviroseal is highly effective for protecting porous brickwork and cement renderings, ensuring long-term structural integrity and appearance preservation.

  • Asbestos and Cement/Mineral Boards: The product provides superior water repellency and protection for asbestos, cement, and mineral boards, safeguarding against potential moisture-related damage.

  • Unglazed Tiles and Stonework: Suitable for unglazed tiles and various stonework, including calcareous materials, Enviroseal ensures comprehensive protection while maintaining the natural appearance of the surfaces.

  • Cast Concrete and Roughcast: Enviroseal offers robust water repellency for cast concrete and roughcast, contributing to their durability and resistance to water damage.

  • Canvas and Other Substrates: With its versatile formulation, Enviroseal is suitable for treating canvas and a range of other substrates, providing reliable protection and preservation against moisture infiltration.

Health & Safety Recommendations:

Take the usual labour hygiene into account.

PPE should be worn during application. See our Safety & PPE Products.

Consult label and material safety data sheet for more information.

Substrate Preparation:

Substrates should be prepared by cleaning to remove all surface contaminants, including fungal / mould growths. Contaminated areas should be treated with one of our Masonry Fungicide products or an organic cleaner such as Green Gone Path & Patio Cleaner.

Mould release agents or decorative paints should be removed completely.

Structural defects, particularly mortar joints, repointing or rendering must be made good and allowed to cure for at least 1 month before treatment. Enviroseal will not prevent ingress of water through cracks or defective joints.

If sandblasting / microblasting are carried out, ensure that the surface is hosed down with water extremely thoroughly. Repeat twice. Allow to dry. This is to ensure that the pores within the stone are not blocked with sand which may affect the application and Enviroseal.

Surfaces must be substantially dry before application of Enviroseal, and it is recommended that Treatment is carried out following a period of dry weather. Nonabsorbent surfaces should be treated.

Where backings are heavily contaminated with salts, there is an increased risk of spalling of surfaces treated with water repellents. The application of Enviroseal is not recommended under these circumstances.

Protect surfaces liable to be splashed during treatment, especially glass window panes, UPVC window frames and decorative coatings (See our Glass Protector Films).

Application Method:

Apply two coats of Enviroseal liberally to the prepared surface using a large brush, lambswool roller or low pressure pneumatic spray equipment.

Take care to ensure no excessive overspray occurs and avoid inhalation during application. In exceptional circumstances a further coat may be necessary.

Allow at least 2 hours between coats and do not apply to surfaces affected by rain or frost.

Any overspray should be removed with silicone cleaner. Treated surfaces may be overpainted with masonry paints after approximately 1 week.

Coverage:

Coverage will depend upon the porosity of the surface to be treated.

Typical consumption is 4-5m² per litre per coat, this may be reduced to 2m² per litre on highly absorbent surfaces.
