Installing the Platinum AquAlarm Wireless involves several key steps to ensure it functions effectively as a high-water alert system. Below are detailed instructions designed to guide you through the setup process, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
Location Planning: Before installing, decide on the placement of both the siren and the float switch. The float switch should be placed in an area where water levels need to be monitored, such as a sump pit or near potential flood areas. The siren should be installed in a location where it can be easily heard and seen.
Testing Wireless Connectivity: Before permanently fixing the devices, temporarily place the siren and the float switch in their intended locations. Test the system to ensure that the wireless signal between the float switch and the siren is strong without any interruptions. Adjust the placement as necessary to achieve optimal signal strength.
Mounting the Siren: Attach the siren to a wall using the supplied siren locking ring backplate. Ensure it is placed within a standard mains outlet’s reach for continuous power supply and optimum signal reception.
Installing the Float Switch Transmitter: The float switch transmitter can be fixed using the provided self-adhesive pad. Place it inside the sump chamber or another relevant area, ensuring it is secure and positioned effectively to monitor water levels. If necessary, extend the connecting wire between the float switch and the transmitter to optimise placement.
Power Connections: Connect the siren to a mains power supply using the included USB cable. Activate the internal backup battery by switching the siren to the ‘ON’ position to ensure operation during a power outage.
Inserting the Battery: Start by inserting the 23A - 12V battery into the wireless float switch. Open the rear cover of the float switch to install the battery.
Powering the Siren: Plug the siren into a USB socket to power up.
Entering Set Mode: Press the set button on the siren for approximately 1 second until it bleeps and the LED flashes once, then release the button immediately. The LED will then flash rapidly indicating it is in set mode.
Coding the Float Switch: Quickly activate the float switch; the siren should emit a long and a short alert tone confirming successful pairing.
Pairing the Key Fob: Within 5 seconds of pairing the float switch, press the SOS button on the key fob. The siren should again emit a long and a short alert tone to confirm the key fob is paired.
Exiting Set Mode: The system will automatically exit set mode 10 seconds after the last device is paired. Ensure all devices are paired within this window.
Activating the Alarm: Press the padlock ‘LOCK’ button on the key fob to arm the system. The siren’s blue LED will flash every 15 seconds to indicate that it is active.
Deactivating the Alarm: Press the padlock ‘UNLOCK’ button on the key fob to disarm the system.
Regular Checks: Regularly test the alarm and battery to ensure the system is operational, especially before periods of expected bad weather or heavy rainfall.
Battery Replacement: Check and replace the batteries in both the float switch and the key fob as needed to ensure they are always functioning properly.
