Soudal D2 Superfast PVA Wood Adhesive is formulated with polyvinyl acetate (PVAc), which accounts for its high viscous fluid consistency ideal for woodworking applications. The adhesive features a physical drying curing system, achieving a solid content of approximately 50%. With an open time of roughly 5 minutes at 23°C and 55% relative humidity, it provides a rapid setting capability, essential for fast-paced environments. The minimum film-forming temperature is 6°C, ensuring usability in cooler conditions without loss of effectiveness.
The D2 Superfast PVA Wood Adhesive sets a new standard with its very fast curing time, requiring minimal pressing times of about 30 minutes, and a pressing pressure ranging from 1 kg/cm² to 2 kg/cm². It is tailored for water-resistant applications as classified under EN204 (D2 level), indicating resistance to moisture, making it suitable for indoor environments where occasional water contact occurs.
This adhesive is easy to apply, can be tooled within its open time, and adjusts to varying application needs, from thin brush applications to spreader-applied layers. It offers a consumption rate of 80 - 120 g/m² for full surface bonding and 150 - 180 g/m² for assembly bonding, making it economical without compromising bond quality.
Ultra-Fast Drying: Cuts waiting time significantly with a curing time that supports fast-paced project timelines, allowing for quicker progression to subsequent stages of woodwork.
High Bond Strength: Achieves superior end strength, ensuring durable and robust joints capable of supporting various structural and decorative applications.
Semi-Transparent Finish: Dries to a semi-transparent finish that does not detract from the natural beauty of wood grains, making it ideal for visible areas of furniture and fittings.
Versatility in Applications: Can be used across a diverse range of woodworking projects, including delicate veneer work and robust construction joints.
Ease of Application: The high viscous consistency allows for precise application without dripping, providing a clean working environment and efficient usage.
Wood Construction Bonds: Ideal for creating strong and lasting joints in wooden construction elements such as frames, cabinets, and shelving.
Veneer and Laminate Bonding: Perfect for adhering thin veneers and laminates to various wood substrates, ensuring a smooth and durable finish.
Assembly of Soft Wood: Excellent for general carpentry and craft projects, including furniture assembly and decorative woodworking, where quick setting is beneficial.
Bonding of Wood and Paper Products: Effective for crafting and model-making where different materials need to be bonded securely and discreetly.
Mortise and Tenon Joints: Provides reliable adhesion for traditional woodworking joints, enhancing the structural integrity of joined sections.
Soudal D2 Superfast Wood Adhesive is optimally designed for use on porous substrates such as wood and carton. The materials intended for bonding must be flat, well-fitting, and rigid to ensure effective adhesion.
Although primarily used for porous materials, this adhesive can also be applied to slightly smoother, non-porous surfaces, provided they are adequately prepared to improve bonding effectiveness.
To achieve the best results, surface preparation is crucial. Ensure that all surfaces to be bonded are clean, dry, and free of dust, grease, or any other contaminants.
For smoother substrates, a light sanding or grinding might be necessary to create a more adhesive-friendly surface. Conducting a preliminary adhesion test on the intended materials is recommended to verify the compatibility and effectiveness of the adhesive under the specific conditions of your project.
Importantly, do not dilute the adhesive as this can adversely affect its performance.
Application of Soudal D2 Superfast Wood Adhesive should be precise to ensure optimal results. Use a fine-toothed comb or brush to apply an even layer of adhesive to one of the surfaces to be bonded.
It is not necessary to apply adhesive to both surfaces, but ensure comprehensive coverage on the selected surface. Once the adhesive is applied, quickly align and join the parts together. This adhesive has a fast open time, so swift action is necessary.
After aligning, apply pressure to the bonded materials for at least 30 minutes. The necessary pressing time can vary based on the ambient temperature and the specific requirements of the project.
If using a press, adjust the temperature and duration according to the thickness and type of wood being bonded to ensure the adhesive cures properly.
Following the pressing time, check the bond integrity before the adhesive fully cures to make any necessary adjustments.
Soudal D2 Superfast Wood Adhesive dries to a semi-transparent finish, blending neatly with most wood finishes.
Any excess adhesive should be wiped off with a damp cloth before it dries to prevent any residue from hardening on the surface of the wood.
Cleaning should be performed immediately after use to avoid the adhesive setting on tools and work surfaces. Soudal D2 Superfast Wood Adhesive can be removed with water while still wet.
Once cured, the adhesive is resilient and can only be removed mechanically, such as by sanding or scraping, which could damage the substrate if not done carefully.
A) Soudal D2 Superfast Wood Adhesive is a high-performance, PVA-based wood glue designed for rapid bonding. It is known for its ultra-fast drying capabilities and robust end strength, making it suitable for a variety of woodworking applications.
A) This adhesive is specifically formulated for porous substrates such as wood and carton, ideal for bonding everything from soft woods to denser hardwoods and paper products.
A) The adhesive has a very fast curing time, with an open time of approximately 5 minutes at normal room temperature and humidity levels, allowing for rapid progression in projects.
A) It has a D2 water resistance rating, which means it can withstand some exposure to moisture, making it suitable for indoor environments where occasional water contact might occur.
A) Due to its D2 rating, it is not recommended for outdoor use where it would be exposed to frequent or prolonged moisture.
A) The minimum film-forming temperature is 6°C, which means it can be applied and will cure effectively in cooler conditions down to this temperature.
A) It has a high viscosity range of 30,000 to 40,000 mPa.s, ensuring it remains in place upon application without dripping, ideal for precise applications.
A) Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of any dust, grease, or contaminants. Light sanding or grinding may be necessary for smoother, non-porous surfaces to enhance adhesion.
A) It should be applied with a fine-toothed comb or brush to one of the bonding surfaces. Ensure comprehensive coverage for effective bonding.
A) The adhesive requires a minimum of 30 minutes of pressing time under a pressure of 1 to 2 kg/cm², depending on the substrates and environmental conditions.
