The Benefits of Using Foil Pack Cartridges:

Standards & Certificates:

  • Tested and Conforms to DIN EN 14187-4: Change in mass and volume following storage in chemical liquids.

  • Tested and Conforms to DIN EN 14187-5: Resistance to hydrolysis.

  • Tested and Conforms to DIN EN 14187-6: Adhesion / cohesion properties following storage in chemical liquids.

  • Soudal Technical Bulletin No. 2017-WD0101 dd. April 6, 2017 regarding Chemical Resistance.

Surface Preparation:

All surfaces should be clean, dry, free of dust and grease.

Apply Soudal Primer 100 on porous substrates. Always use Primer 100 on natural stone, no primer required on non-porous substrates. All smooth surfaces can be treated with Soudal Surface Activator.

There is no adhesion on glass, PE, PP, PTFE (Teflon®) and bituminous substrates.

We recommend a preliminary compatibility test.

Application Method:

  • Application Method: Apply using the Soudal Manual Foil Pack ApplicatorUse masking tape if necessary. Apply Soudaflex 36FL evenly without air inclusions into the joint. Remove masking tape before skin formation. Use the Soudaglatt Tool for tooling sealant if required.

  • Cleaning: Clean with white spirit or Surface Cleaner immediately after use.

  • Repair: With the same material

Coverage:

Coverage of any sealant product varies depending on Joint Width and Joint Depth.

Please refer to our Guide on How To Measure The Number of Tubes Required For the Job.

Joint Dimensions:

  • Minimum Width for Joints: 5 mm

  • Maximum Width for Joints: 30 mm

  • Minimum Depth for Joints: 5 mm

  • Recommendation Sealing Jobs: Joint Depth = 0.8 x Joint Width.

Remarks:

  • When painted with oxidative drying paints disturbances in the drying of the paint may occur (we recommend to do a compatibility test before application).

  • Soudaflex 36FL has a good UV resistance but can discolour under extreme conditions or after very long UV exposure.

  • Chemical resistance strongly depends on concentration, temperature and exposure time. Some chemicals may lead to a change in volume, mechanical properties or the visual aspect of the sealant.

  • It is recommended to do a compatibility test prior to application.

  • Contact with bitumen, tar or other plasticizer releasing materials such as EPDM, neoprene, butyl, etc. is to be avoided since it can give rise to discolouration and loss of adhesion.

  • Do not apply or allow to cure in the presence of uncured silicone sealants, alcohol - or other solvent cleaners.

  • When using different reactive joint sealants, the first joint sealant must be completely hardened before the next one is applied.
